Engineering Manager

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our team and help us grow further, playing a key role in the future success of the business. Reporting to the Directors, you will be responsible for the day to day running and efficient operation of all plant, machinery and equipment, leading and motivating the engineering team, ensuring all quality standards are achieved and health & safety adhered to.

Main Purpose:

To oversee all plant, machinery, equipment and buildings. Manage all planned maintenance, react swiftly to breakdowns and pro-actively improve equipment where required. Develop the workshop personnel’s skills and knowledge, produce SSOW and dynamic risk assessments. Ensure suitable spares and equipment are held, proactively identify potential problems and resolve in a timely manner.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and managing the engineering function within the factory to drive performance and reduce operational costs and downtime
  • Leading and providing support for major repairs and projects with a hands-on practical approach
  • Driving continuous improvement for process, products and equipment through lean techniques to remove waste and improve efficiency
  • Managing regulatory and health & safety compliance in all areas under your control
  • Being a member of the Senior Management team, communicating effectively with all other departments and assisting with product tooling and engineering related enquiries

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years engineering experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management position
  • Qualified and competent and with an appropriate qualification in a manufacturing related mechanical/electrical discipline, e.g. advanced apprenticeship, NVQ 3/4, HNC/HND, Electrical NC/ND, C&G electrical and electronic technical certificate
  • Computer literate with MS Office skills; Experience of a range of manufacturing and design systems (e.g. SAGE Manufacturing or Autodesk CAD/CAM/Inventor) an advantage
  • IOSH managing safely and/or NEBOSH general certificate is desirable
  • Metal fabrication skills and experience an advantage

Salary & Benefits:

Salary Range £45,000 - £50,000 plus Pension
